Harbrecht and Bester Claim Victory at the 2025 EuroChallenge Surfski World Cup

The 16th edition of the EuroChallenge, a major stop on the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Cup circuit, recently took place in La Vila Joiosa, Spain. The event saw elite paddlers from across the globe take on a challenging 18-kilometer downwind course. In the Men’s Senior SS1 category, Gordan Harbrecht of Germany secured the gold medal with a time of 1:06:26, narrowly beating out South African competitors Uli Hart and Kenny Rice. The Women’s Senior SS1 title was claimed by South Africa’s Kira Bester, with France's Thaïs Delrieux taking a impressive third place. The competition also highlighted rising stars in the youth categories. Portugal's Bernardo Leça Pereira not only won the Men's U23 title but also finished second in the overall standings. In the Women's U23 division, Jade Wilson of South Africa mirrored that success by taking second place overall and winning her age group. Spanish athletes showed strong local form, with Julián StMary Palmero winning the Men’s Junior gold and Jesús Pérez Rial and Ana Isabel García Martínez sweeping the top spots in the OC-1 category. The event once again solidified its reputation as one of the most demanding and prestigious ocean races on the international calendar.
